So long, thirties

Hello, forty candles! Here I am! Primed for a party at 9am, when Allison was all too eager to stop by with cake (really, for the purpose of demolishing it with 40 planted candles). Yes, please! Frank and I celebrated at Cafe Juanita to kick-off the weekend, Meryl and I got our nails did today, and then I set off on a venture far away during an epic two hour nap during family nap time...the latter being the true mark of wisdom and great decision making:) I’m ready for the next decade!

Marvin, Bunny, and Elmo

Lola and Tito grabbed a few toys that I had at home. Marvin the Martian and Elmo. Meryl has had an affinity for Elmo from books and toys and now she has her own. And Bunny came along for the ride.

Okey dokey, Artichokey

The artichokes in our garden are ready, so we trimmed and steamed them for tonight’s dinner. It was Meryl and Holmes’ first time to have artichokes, but for Meryl, I think they were more of just a vehicle for mayo.

Happy Fathers Day!

KEXP party with dancing and pizza dough throwing for the win three years in a row! These kids sure are lucky to have Frank as their father, smother hugs and all - he’s a catch:)

Scooter girls

Meryl and Margot were at it again yesterday. We ended up over at Margot’s for dinner, combining our dinner plans...and introducing Margot and her family to Seattle hot dogs (with cream cheese and grilled onions)!

#10

The Cottontails season has begun! Soccer boots and all (for Frank, really), Meryl was game to go to practice. And with the #10 jersey (literally the next choice out of the bin), she’s already among the ranks of Carli Lloyd on the US Women’s National Team, as well as Pele, Maradona, Messi, Bergkamp, Totti, and Zidane. Naturally, we’ve got the Women’s World Cup on now too - we’re so lucky to have a team of badass women as role models!

Holmes is seven months old

Another month! Holmes is eating a lot more and growing a lot more. Seemingly, from week to week he chunks out, then lengthens out! He’s inching his way around the floor and has graduated to the high-chair fixed to our kitchen island, so he has a seat at the table! Now for us to fold in the new routine of feeding him food (now that he finally gets it)...it’s on us to slow down and pack in the purées!
