The sun is out and the temperature reached the low seventies today, time to let the fresh air flow.

And so begins the birthday party circuit. We joined Meryl’s preschool friends today at Theo’s birthday party in the park, where Theo’s Dad took us on a search for Yeti. We saw white fur along the trail, heard Yeti howl in the woods, and actually saw Yeti! But he ran away before we could catch him, he is shy after all. Luckily, Yeti is also friendly and left everyone treats inside a fallen tree for our walk back to the playground for birthday cake.
All about bellies today! Meryl insisted on sliding on her belly, and then we filled our bellies with dim sum down the block. Chopsticks tutorial 1.0 was also a success! Though, huge scallion buns are much more fun to eat with hands.
Within the last week and a half, Holmes has broken out of his swaddle, rolled over in his Michelin Man sleep suit, and is now learning to sleep in a sleep sack with flailing arms. I will say this, he has slept for nine hours straight...which means he can do it again! When?
Some Lola time with a prayer book to remember Meryl’s Lolo who passed away on this day 14 years ago. Dad, your little Apos love you so much and I can’t wait to treat them to dim sum like you did to Dward and I.
Checked a bunch of things off our list while running errands today, and Meryl discovered that there are bathrooms everywhere too! (And, that bathrooms can also be called ‘restrooms.’)
Four months! This kid keeps growing and eating and challenging all the constants that I think we’ve reached for the sake of having a routine...but, who are we fooling, the only constant is change. He sure is cute.
And just like that, today no less, Holmes is rolling over!
We’ve had a lot of underwear discussions lately, and Meryl asked her teacher at preschool this morning to wear underwear like some of the older girls in class - they gave her a pair to wear and she’s doing great! (Fingers crossed!) So of course we had to shop for underwear tonight and came home with shoes too. What a day!
Heads are heavy! Engaging his lats and strengthening his neck muscles, we’re making ‘headway.’
Meryl is on the left at six months, Holmes is on the right at almost four months. Baylie paired these two pictures together - and, well, I guess I see the resemblance:) (Also, it’s wonderful we’ve had the chance to work with Baylie for over two years now!)
We met up with Meryl’s pre-school friends at the zoo today. And, we discovered that the zoo has a petting zoo too! Pizza party for lunch and naps for all afterwards.
One of Holmes’ PT goals this week is to reach above...so we put ‘everything’ above:) More is better, right? We’re also working on rolling over for his neck strength. (All things we should be doing normally, but calling it ‘PT’ makes it feel extra important.)
Jenna left a “Happy Sund-Neigh!” present for Meryl in our mailbox today. While Meryl gave me the first chance to pick a name, I took the high road and offered it to her. She chose ‘Doo Doo,’ and I quickly scrambled to suggest anything else that came to mind...Honey, Maple Syrup...nope, by then Doo Doo had stuck. Doo Doo also has brown eyes like Meryl, FYI. Welcome to the family!
Leftover salmon from last night means onigiri night tonight! Or seaweed tacos:)
How many adults does it take to get a picture of five kids? We got to have a play date with Ellie, Norah, and Abby today! Our friends, Anne, Adam and family are in Seattle this week and we made their itinerary short list!
Swinging from the rings like a monkey and walking the balance beam (it’s easier with tiny feet that fit the width!). Fun times today, especially catching up with Anne.
