So much to see

We’ve got a lot going on here. New soccer shorts and socks for the season, a fancy coat, and her leggings hiked up above her left knee to show off her bandaid covering a scrape from falling on the sidewalk. Plenty of conversation starters:)

Morning cupcakes from Cupcake Royale with these ones. Meryl got The Gay which supports OutRight Action International, an organization that champions human rights for the LGBTIQ community everywhere. At Cupcake Royale for Pride Month, 10% of sales of The Gay go to Outright. #loveislove

Control is overrated

Meryl has major avoidance game...we’re exploring the world of procrastination and delay and pretty much anything except whatever she’s supposed to be doing.

Party animals

We headed to Hilltop’s annual party on Friday night, and partied till the very end! Great school, great kids and parents - we’re lucky!

OMG

Well, our plans to swim in our neighborhood pool today were foiled when we showed up to find it spontaneously closed due to mysterious smoke in the building. The lifeguard suggested we head to the pool five minutes in the other direction to the next neighborhood over...and whoa, the Magnolia pool is bonkers amazing! Two pools outside, both heated, and the kids’ three foot deep pool (on the left) had toys, and noodles, and water wings, and a slide...it was like swimming in a hot tub, outside! Meryl exclaimed, “I want to stay here forever!” Me too. We’ll be back!

Sticks

Today’s beach outing revolved around sticks. Sticks float! And, they come back to you in the surf. So you get to throw them again! After taking this picture, lots of people descended on to the beach - Meryl and I sat for quite some time people watching and digging our toes into the rocks. Fine by me!

Scootering

We buckled and bit the Amazon convenience dust to buy Meryl what the Internet has deemed as the best scooter for a growing toddler. Turns out, Meryl’s friend, Margot, across the street has the same one!  (And, all of preschool.) Thank you, Wirecutter, on behalf of the world of well intentioned busy parents, for pretty much everything we buy these days.

Salon big leagues

Yet another haircut. But Meryl moved up in the salon world by getting her hair washed, sitting in a big kids chair, and leaving with a fancy braided pigtail. We love her stylist (yup, just said that - she goes to the same person each time), but now I might have to start doing fancy pigtails!

Eating, sort of

I had one moment of celebration, when a single piece of rice wasn’t spit back out...and that was it. Holmes has tried a whole host of sauces, rice, oatmeal, and roasted parsnips. He loves tasting, but hasn’t quite figured out the rest!
