Thank you, Roger Federer

Roger Federer took an extra hour to unfortunately lose to Novak Djokovic this morning at Wimbledon, which diverted our plans to spontaneously meeting up at the toy store with Chelsea to return her cake tin. Luckily, we made out with airplane entertainment we would have never coordinated otherwise and a single fizzy bath soap ball for Meryl (her one item choice from her cart of many, heavily advocated for over the lawn mower she initially preferred).

Wings and tater tots

And then we introduced Chelsea, David, Everly, and Bennett to Wing Dome down the street. It’s always amazing how the not planned ends up being the best plan.

Snack time dancing

Also to note, Meryl’s ‘pretend’ owie on her left big toe. We’ve gone through a lot of bandaids recently, and Meryl has since wised up to our rationalizations for not needing more bandaids (no cuts, not bleeding, wet bandaids are just fine, kisses have curing powers)…hence, the pretend owie - how can we resist imagination? Additionally, pretend owies sometimes need pretend bandaids; Scotch tape fits the bill.

Hilltop Field Trip

Today was a Hilltop field trip to a park with a newly renovated playground. I chose to chaperone and Meryl had a grand time with taking the bus, playing with her friends, and then lunch at her teacher’s house who lived next to the playground. My takeaways were that these are adventurous, brave, and wise kids that have so much fun. They are such good kids.

#onenationoneteam

Well, that was fun! Go USA! Rapinoe power and Lavelle confidence; it sure was great watching the Women’s World Cup final with Meryl. I had tears in my eyes throughout:) And I’m totally OK with the team being labeled as arrogant.

Pork fat rules

Time and time again, this kid chooses meat above all the rest (funny also, because I craved sweets non-stop when I was pregnant with him, way more than with Meryl). Here’s to cognitive brain development! Our savory little pork belly.

I’m still hungry

As a 4th of July treat, Meryl got a whole Drumstick ice cream cone that she picked out at the store. I don’t know why I was impressed that she ate the whole thing, it’s sweet and has chocolate! Upon heading back into the house, she stated that she was still hungry - and when Frank asked what she was still hungry for, she replied, “ice cream.”

Happy 4th of July!

Last minute bike ride with Meryl to Ken’s Market for hot dogs and ice cream! Though, Meryl really only ate the chips and French onion dip courtesy of Lorraine:)
