Stealing wheels

Holmes has been ‘eyeing’ Meryl’s bike and with Meryl moving into two-wheel riding confidence, we scored a hand-brake bike at our little ski-store-now-bike-store down the hill…bike supply chains have been disrupted this past year, so we jumped at the opportunity to get an already built ready to ride bike before the summer! (Plus, after an intense career of searching vaccine waitlists, celebrating by cutting short a next career of searching for bikes seemed fitting.) Also, who is this two-and-a-half year old kid who wants to ride a bike? Slow down!

H O L M E S

While working through our wedding playlist, “YMCA” played, which reminded Tito of how he spells out MERYL on the sidewalk below her bedroom window when he leaves in the evening, which inspired Tito and Meryl to spell HOLMES!

To the beach

Meanwhile, Mom and son morning date! Only, we didn’t get very far. A digger was parked next to where we often park and the celebrity of the moment had to be seen. And much like when Meryl met her first real-live Honey Bucket, Holmes was both excited and daunted:)

Bouldering with pizazz

(1) We learned today that climbing without ropes and harnesses is called “bouldering.” (2) If you’re not bouldering in leopard print, are you really bouldering?

In Which…Meryl sees a dream

Friday night lights! Meryl and I have been pouring through Winnie the Pooh’s anthology (for the second time)…and, the week caught up to her:) Each chapter is titled, “In Which…[something happens],” so we’ve been having fun stating out loud what will happen like A. A. Milne writes and randomly singing out, “tiddely-pom,” from one of Pooh’s poems. A “Good Hum” often finds you.

What’s a play date?

We have been dabbling in outdoor pod focused play dates with classmates and today Meryl’s whole class showed up at the park! (+1 younger sibling classmate of Holmes.) It was so much fun to see the kids running amok…like normal, but not, and then we doused ourselves in sanitizer afterwards. Sun, parent connections, kids getting all their wiggles out, and hope!
