Illustrious illustrations

Meryl’s big into drawing and coloring, has been. And it’s fun to see how her talent evolves. We’re re-reading a science series where the lead character writes ideas and results for experiments in her journal, and Meryl wanted to recreate one of the pictures.

Dance Moms

Well, you can’t pick your nickname. We’ve fallen for a local dance studio after starting tap this summer and adding ballet this fall. It’s a community, and it’s a good one. And since we can’t stay inside to watch because of the pandemic, us Moms get our walking and talking on. We’re now referred to as the “Dance Moms,” who, collectively, know all with answers to most of life’s questions:) Also, Meryl wanted to add, “Meryl is putting on her butterfly shoes.” (To which, I did not know she called them that!)

Lego mania has begun

We visited a store, literally called “Math-n-Stuff,” to pick up a recommended game, and walked out with more. Holmes got his first Lego set and this little dinosaur built a loader! The beginning of little pieces of passionate imagination everywhere has begun.

Sewing with Lola

Meryl chose a sewing kit and has been fixated on stitching her creations all weekend. Fall colds have swept the city, so she sewed with Lola from afar in our living room:)

Growing up

Holmes has been hinting at wanting to sit on the tall stools at the kitchen island with us at mealtime and this weekend was his final push to join the olds. It’s SO MUCH fun sitting together! As a result, Meryl gained an even larger art station in her room and Holmes gained an imagination station in the living room, and the kitchen grew space!

Scotch tape

In Holmes’ world, Scotch tape fixes everything. It even creates pretend tattoos from falling off Paw Patrol stickers:)

The Flying Capes

Great band name, right? Well, this practice session tested how well their capes actually fluttered, requiring fast running and high jumping.
