Pre-bedtime energy boost. Entertainment? Or procrastination?
Our six year old. This girl turned another year older this week, and we can’t believe it’s been six whole years!
Lummi got a whole week of celebrations from going to dog parks to getting to eat a personally chosen birthday cake by Meryl:)
Prime time for the cherry blossoms in bloom at The Quad at UW this weekend, plus sun to boot! We thought that visiting at 8:30am on a Sunday would give us some breathing room from the crowds, nope! Though, it’s all happiness...friends and families together, wedding and new baby photo sessions, strangers taking group photos of others - smiles all around:) (Oh, Holmes.)
The pre-school friends birthday party circuit continues! We celebrated Vera and all things unicorn at a gymnastics gym, shockingly close to our house. We’re rediscovering Seattle as parents! Also, rainbow colored bagels exist; FYI.
Bongos and a ukulele showed up on our doorstep from Xanna! Rhythm nation in the rainforest. Now to tune that ukulele.
Baylie and Holmes had some deck time in the sun! Yes, he’s also growing.
...And then Meryl found Lola’s chocolate stash:)
Tonight, Meryl finished off her Girl Scout cookies and opened her new toy. Welcome to the house, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel!
Father-daughter-son doughnut party this morning.
Meryl and I headed up to Sonja and Gavin’s today for a cheeseburger party! Gavin has put 10,000 hours each into eating and making cheeseburgers...and his are indisputably the best. Sonja’s homemade pickles, Gavin’s homemade burger sauce, American cheese, and Heinz ketchup (only Heinz) - gently steamed in a wrapper for ooey-gooey goodness. And tater tots to start:) Bonus round for Meryl was getting to meet Moe, their cat, sleeping underneath the covers.
Lola and Tito time! Also, time to make freezer meals for lunch as I’m heading back to work tomorrow. This time the focus is on sides and components to make a meal - cooked lentils, pesto and puréed veggies frozen in ice cube trays to add to pasta and soups, granola, hard boiled eggs, etc.
The first bottle in Meryl’s wine cellar has been procured! 2016 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is racked and ready to age...twenty one whole years, when she’ll no doubt prefer drinking wine with her Dad over jungle juice with her friends at a college party:)
