Skating

We met up with friends tonight at the brand new Kraken (NHL team) practice facility for their public skate session…new HVAC systems and filters, new rentals, new everything! Nobody knew what they were doing and it was great! Seriously, where can you go these days where the majority of people there (kids and adults) are choosing to try something new? (And for the obvious record, Holmes had the best deal of the night.)

Snack attack

Ski days are all about the snacks. Snacks on the drive up, snacks before lessons start, snacks in the chairlift line, snacks on the mountain, snacks at the bottom of the mountain, and snacks on the drive home. Snacks!

Summit scenes

It was a cold one today! The sun peaked through the fog just as we were leaving drinking hot chocolate and hot broth. Lummi, our base camp beauty, strolled for pets in the parking lot and found all the love:)

Long live longer light

It never fails to impress. Thank goodness for longer days! (Or should I say more light during the day, I think we can all say that we’re living long days as it is.)

Sleepover

Note, day clothes for pajamas. Their idea. Note also, our shined floors…courtesy of Holmes’ self-care of putting Vick’s VapoRub on the soles of his feet and seemingly using the floor to rub it in:)

Blue bird day

Holmes’ first day on the mountain was a success! And after avoiding the long magic carpet line by pushing him up the mountain for a few very short runs, we ditched it all together for the nearest chairlift and never looked back. With the backpack leash, I do end up lifting him down the mountain:) But, we have a need for speed (self imposed by me?) that only a chairlift can offer. We left on a high wanting to come back!

Summit scenes

It’s a whole family affair! (And, there’s nothing more energy consuming than skiing with other friends and instructors…Meryl saw us at the base on her last run and slumped on into our arms.)
